چکیده

Indium 111 DTPA Octreotide (Octreoscan) has been the pillar of Somatostatin receptor (SSTRs) imaging in nuclear medicine for over three decades. The advent PET/CT brought new analogs somatostatin that have higher affinity and improved resolution due to their labeling Gallium 68 positron imaging. most used include DOTATATE, DOTATOC DOTANOC. However, 68–1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DOTA)-octreotate (DOTATATE) is probably common non-FDG (fluoro-2-deoxy glucose) PET tracer alongside PSMA (prostate specific membrane antigen). In contrast F18-labeled FDG, it does not require proximity a cyclotron availability Ga68 generator. DOTATATE analog which allows whole body receptors on cell surfaces. 68Ga-DOTA compounds provide standard well-differentiated (Grade 1 low grade 2) neuro-endocrine tumors (NETs) utilized staging characterization restaging patients with NETs. 68Ga complementary role 18F-FDG where may exhibit varying degrees differentiation. It furthermore application as prelude therapy selecting peptide radionuclide using theranostic approach. A sound knowledge normal biodistribution radiotracer imperative optimal patient outcome avoid potential false positives such inflammation, pancreatic uncinate process uptake osteoblastic activity. this review, we will describe appearances pitfalls support images aid improving interpretation crucial innovative tool management individuals expressing SSTRs.

Artifacts, Pitfalls and Normal Variants

Image artifacts are encountered daily in clinical ultrasonography and may be a source of confusion for the interpreting sonologist. The understanding of the mechanisms behind their production allows recognition of artifacts and avoids misinterpretations and incorrect diagnoses. Some artifacts may be avoidable and arise secondary to improper scanning technique. Other artifacts are generated by t...

Lumbar spine imaging. Normal variants, imaging pitfalls, and artifacts.

Accurate recognition and reporting of spine abnormalities on MRI requires knowledge of normal anatomy and its variants. This article deals with common normal variants, points out pitfalls which may be sources of errors in interpretation and describes imaging artifacts which are essential to be recognized and not mistaken for true pathologies.

Ga-68 DOTATATE PET/CT in Neuroendocrine Tumors: Initial Experience

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms, majority of which express somatostatin (SST) receptors. Recently, with the widespread use of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and development of novel PET tracers like Ga-68 DOTA peptide which specifically bind to somatostatin receptors (SSTR), Ga-68 DOTA peptide PET/CT is used in manageme...

Artifacts and pitfalls in myocardial perfusion imaging.

Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is an important imaging modality in the management of patients with cardiovascular disease. MPI plays a key role in diagnosing cardiovascular disease, establishing prognosis, assessing the effectiveness of therapy, and evaluating viability. However, MPI is a complex process, subject to a variety of artifacts and pitfalls, which may limit its clinical utility. ...

Assessment of vulnerable atherosclerotic and fibrotic plaques in coronary arteries using (68)Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT.

Activated macrophages which express somatostatin receptor-2 (SSTR-2) play a vital role in rupture of the vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques, which result in death. (68)Ga-DOTATATE binds to somatostatin receptors 2, and therefore, can serve as potential radiotracer to detect atherosclerotic plaques. The purpose of this study was to generate preliminary data with this agent in vulnerable or fibro...
